Barbara Mirel is an Associate Research Scientist of Education at the University of Michigan. She is the Director of the user experience and evaluation core in the National Center of Integrative Biomedical Informatics (NCIBI), an NIH-funded center. Her research focuses on designing for usefulness for complex work and is the author of Interaction Design for Complex Problem Solving (Elsevier/Morgan Kaufmann, 2004).
